One-way surface streets create rivers of fast moving automobiles that depress walking and street life. The city should convert Summit and Fourth street back into two way streets to help encourage walking and street life in Italian Village and surrounding neighborhoods

This is a great idea and initiative that Dallas has taken on in order to bridge different areas of their downtown that were cut off by freeways and/or other landmarks. It's an interesting idea where by layering and capping certain areas you can reconnect spaces for a more viable downtown core (similar to the 670 cap from downtown Columbus to the Short North)... However, there are still plenty of spaces within downtown Columbus where a simple pedestrian friendly gesture would help reconnect it to other, more viable areas of the city. More specifically I'm thinking of the northern edge of the city that seems to be so barren with few trees, lots of huge (and over crowded) parking lots, and hardly any amenities and local attractors. I walk these areas all the time (from 670 / Italian Village down to Gay Street, on both 3rd and 4th St)... a mere 4-5 block area that could easily be transformed into a bustling community with a few pedestrian friendly measures and green connectors.

Columbus is evolving a nice range of mobility options in the city center, and several have cyberpresence - in particular, COTA, Car2Go, CoGo, Uber, Yellow Cab. A smartphone-based mobility app that can suggest multimodal trips that integrate all mobility options would help to make a more livable, sustainable city that is not dominated by automobile traffic.

The cap over I-270 from downtown to the Short North has been very successful at transforming the convention center area and linking downtown to the Short North. More caps should be built and populated with cafes, restaurants and other business. A cap over I-71/70 linking downtown to German Village would be a good start, as well as a cap linking downtown to Old Town East over I-70

Light rail transit serves to move people long distances across the city, such as commuters from the suburbs to the city center. In contrast, trolleys or streetcars serve to move people within the city center. In a sense, trolleys are pedestrian enhancers. Columbus should continue to encourage development in its city center by building a trolley system. A first priority should be the High Street corridor from German Village to Clintonville. This can also complement other efforts such as bus rapid transit or light rail.

The east-west i-670 trail is named after the interstate it runs next to. i believe this trail needs to be renamed with something more representative of it's surroundings. it connects the alum creek trail to the scioto and olentangy greenway trails. Columbus having a trail designed for non-motorized users that is named after a highway is confusing. it is not relevant to the trail user. i-670 trail the trail travels from fort hayes, east along i-670, following leonard ave., crossing nelson and fifth avenues, terminating at airport drive, near ohio dominican college. it connects to the alum creek trail at nelson road. length: 4.0 miles let's encourage local trail users to adopt and rename this trail with something relevant that celebrates the area and makes it more appealing to visit.
