Forest Preserve Accessibility

Chicago, IL
Forest Preserve Accessibility
Description:

The site that this project would improve is the Schiller Woods forest preserve. The park has multiple trails and other programs but the main issue is that it is hard to find and enter. This idea is to put a map to the park in the nearby bus station (Cumberland blue line) as well as signs giving directions to the entrance along the route. Groups that would need to be involved are the Forest Preserves of Cook County, the CTA, the department of transportation, and the alderman’s office. The Forest Preserves of Cook County would be involved because the signs would be for them and their permission would be needed. The CTA sells space to show advertisements. We would need to purchase one of those spaces to show the route and attract visitors. We would also talk to the department of transportation and the alderman’s office in order to put up signs that lead to the entrance. To put this idea into action we would need to contact these groups and request permission and support to go through with the idea.
