It seems like most thriving cities have stores for shopping. The Peoria Riverfront has a good assortment of food but virtually no shopping. There is no reason to visit the riverfront other than to eat. On a rare occasion there will be some good music. I'm originally from Chicago and was amazed that there were no stores down town. Let make it a total package: Culture, shopping, food, and sports. (And lets make it dog friendly!)
