The vacant land south of roosevelt and west of clark st. has been unused since the bend of the chicago river was straightened in 1929 (http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/300119.html). the potential to keep these acres open and natural is extremely high, especially with the south loop's resurgence of development, this land needs to be preserved before development erases the last slice of green in south chicago.
