Rework the Elston / Ashland / Armitage Intersection

Rework the Elston / Ashland / Armitage Intersection

This intersection is awkward for any mode of transportation and especially harsh for pedestrians and bicyclists. What are some ways in which these intersection can be improved in order to improve safety and traffic flow? Could a reworked / redeveloped Clybourn Metra Station contribute to the new scheme?

This intersection is in serious need of an overhaul. It's terrifying to walk through here, and confusing to drive through. I wonder if some kind of traffic circle or a one-way square could work here. Or at least close Homer just between Ashland and Elston to reduce the number of turning movements.
