Food Truck Rodeo!

Chicago, IL
Food Truck Rodeo!
Description:

Remove some of the parking lane and invite food trucks to Wabash Avenue a couple times a week, year-round. Have the food trucks open onto the sidewalk and provide temporary tables and chairs, paying attention to the location to expand the food offerings on Wabash.

Jay Sebastian Chicago,

As a food truck, we like this idea. For the city (and us as taxpayers) not so keen. I believe we have to pay Parking Meters LLC $20K or more annually for each removed parking space. Thanks for selling off our meters for the next 75 years. How about an empty lot downtown?

I agree with Craig; like San Lorenzo Market in Florence!

I love this idea. If some of the parking was eliminated on one side of the street, there'd be plenty of room for the trucks. All of the dining rooms are usually packed during lunch, so having this option allows you to grab something then eat outside.

Why stop at food trucks? Why not give permits to a variety of vendors and make it the place to go for fresh veggies, knockoff handbags and handmade bead jewelry? The Wabash Market.

Would be great to have a clear and sanctioned destination for this ever-growing lunch option. Could also better grab pedestrian traffic from State and Michigan to businesses in Jewelers Row.
