New Clybourn Metra Station

Chicago, IL
New Clybourn Metra Station
Description:

An improved Clybourn Metra Station, which services the Union Pacific North + Northwest lines, would benefit citizens from the surrounding neighborhoods as well as those who work at the various companies nearby.

What about an additional station at Division Street? That's much easier walking access to the Goose Island developments.

The Clybourn station does not serve the needs of the community. The parking is non-existent, the street access is difficult and it is dangerous after dark as there are no sight lines to see what is happening between the platform and the stairs. For safety reasons, not just aesthetics this needs to be changed.

The Clybourn station can definitely be improved and be a much nicer train station for the community. Better signing, better lighting and parking are three of the main things, but also a better marked walkway from the train station to Armitage needs to be marked - so people can walk safely on a well marked and well lit path from the station to Elston to Cortland to Clybourn. Also, a drop and ride parking station would be great. Right now people pick up all over the place there - cars stop on Ashland, on Cortland under the viaduct, try to get into the lot which is hard to turn around in. It's such a great asset but needs to be improved.

The Clybourn/Metra area is also severely polluted, an environmental mess that needs to be cleaned up. And, as others have said, the streets leading to the Metra are not pedestrian- or bike-friendly. Very un-safe on so many levels.
